"Sisters of Mercy Parramatta Congregation will enjoy and celebrate Earth’s beauty and bounty and her many species. We will honour our duty to love and care for her and add to her well-being wherever possible."(Chapter Statement)

Laudato Si’ Week 2024 marks nine years since the publication of Pope Francis’ landmark encyclical, Laudato Si'which calls for responsible stewardship of all Creation.

Last year, Pope Francis issued a further document on the care of the planet, Laudate Deum, focussing on the climate crisis and its many effects. Pope Francis wrote it he said because  he realised " that our responses have not been adequate, while the world in which we live is collapsing and may be nearing the breaking point" (LD #2).

During this week, when we are once again encouraged to reflect on the encyclical and act to bring its ideals to life, we are called to recognise the urgency of our individual and collective response and to be "Seeds of Hope".

A Celebration Guide has been produced to assist us in fully experiencing Laudato Si' week. Download it here
