The Parramatta Congregation along with the others in Australia and Papua New Guinea form the Institute of Sisters of Mercy Australia (ISMA). Through ISMA, some of us also work with the poor and refugees in various other countries.

As part of the relief and development work of the Sisters of Mercy, the Mercy Refugee Service is entrusted to serve without discrimination, the uprooted and displaced people in our world.

The Edmund Rice Centre works in education, advocacy and social action to promote social change and a more equitable society, locally and internationally. The Centre offers individuals and groups experiential learning opportunities, and assists in the development of skills and strategies for effective social action.

Social Action Office: Conference of Leaders of Religious Institutes, Queensland

The Social Action Office (SAO) was founded in October 1992 by the Conference of Leaders of Religious Institutes, Queensland (CLRIQ) to undertake and cultivate social action ministry. The SAO is based in Brisbane but it serves a statewide network of Catholic Religious Congregations in Queensland. It also works closely with Religious Congregations across Australia and with a growing number of partners, both individual and organisational.

The Australian Catholic Social Justice Council (ACSJC) was set up by the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference (ACBC) in 1987 as the national justice and peace agency of the Catholic Church in Australia.

Chilout is a group of parents and citizens opposed to the mandatory detention of children in Australian immigration detention centres. We are appalled that Australia’s treatment of asylum seekers breaches several human rights treaties to which we are a signatory, in particular the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
