Faced with the necessity of investing significant funds into ageing buildings, in 2012, the Sisters of Mercy Parramatta made the difficult and painful decision to cease the direct provision of services of St Michael's Family Centre.
The St Michael's Fund is the outcome of the Sisters' commitment to further the core mission of St Michael's Family Centre through partnership with and support of other services serving the same client base of women and children at risk of homelessness, most commonly due to family violence.
The Inaugural recipients of the St Michael's Fund grants were:
- The Lisa Harnum Foundation received a 1 year $12,000 grant.
- The Sanctuary received a 3 year $20,000 per annum grant
- Houses to Homes received a 1 year $10,000 grant
The St Michael's Fund invites selected organisations who are working to support women and children at risk, to apply for grants for between 1 and 3 years' duration. Applications must meet established criteria specified in the Grant application package.
A further round of grants will be offered to invited organisations in 2017.
